Luxembourg City In Snow: Winter White Wonderland

heart shaped snowball with Luxembourg in the background

Luxembourg City in snow is a beautiful winter wonderland experience for the lucky ones who are visiting or living in the capital during snowfall. The city skyline with white fluffy snowflakes is the perfect picture. The capital of Luxembourg doesn’t always get lots of snow, due to the elevation, but when it does, its so pretty!

Luxembourg City In Snow

After writing our Snow In Luxembourg post sharing the snow photos in the Northern Éisleck region, a snowy capital city post had to be my next follow up! These pretty city scenes of white rooftops and snowfall was taken in January 2021 when I insisted on getting outside with the camera.

As you can see, the city was pretty quiet during my walk. I think I only passed a few people during the whole time I was out. This was likely due to it being very cold as well as in combination with everything closed due to lockdown rules in January 2021.

If you are looking for more snow photos and inspiration on where to enjoy the snow outside of the city, check out our general snow post about Luxembourg. Here it shares many locations to take kids for sledging, winter hikes and more!

Summary

Like mentioned at the beginning, if you find yourself in Luxembourg capital city during a wintery season, enjoy it as much as possible! Neighbourhoods such as Grund is so lovely to view from above, spotting all the wintery streets and covered houses.

I can highly recommend heading for a walk around the viewpoints, as well as heading down through some of the neighbourhoods to enjoy local winter life. There were many places selling warm snacks and gluhwein – which was tasty and helped warm up from the minus temperatures!

I actually don’t think that I’ve seen photos of this city in the snow which is strange! It looks really pretty though and very picturesque.

Your photos are very beautiful! I like a nice walk in the snow, and although I don’t think I will be able to visit Luxembourg City during winter, I hope that it will be possible to do a short trip there during the summer.
