The Street Art Rotterdam scene is something you cannot miss during a visit to the city. With the help of local artists and collectives like Rewriters010 you can experience the artwork yourselves. Take a self-guided walking Rotterdam Street Art route or follow the app for mostly local but including international graffiti street artwork. The impressive and ridiculously skilled artwork is bringing the hashtag #Streetartrotterdam alive.
Street Art Rotterdam Artists
Some of the famous artists I have discovered that you can find artwork of in the city of Rotterdam are the following;
- Bier en Brood
- Dan Botlek
- I Am Eelco
- TelmoMiel
- Mark Goss
- Tymon
- Lastpak – This is a group of up to 9 painters with a goal of “to paint, no matter what surface, size or location.” Their work can be found worldwide, but all based in Rotterdam.
- Ox Alien – The artwork from this guy I see the most during my city walks!
Rewriters010
Rewriters010 is a Street Art Rotterdam collective platform for local artists to showcase their own work in the city streets. Legal of course. They have a free street art map provided on their website that you can download for free. This free map has up to 34 street artworks to be found, and updated with new artwork added to the city.
Rewriters010 App
With the app found on their website you can download via android or IOS a guided route to follow with your GPS. It only costs 99 cents, updated regularly and totally worth it! The app guides you around the street art of the local Rotterdam artists along a route through the city and side streets. The route includes 12 brand new paintings (as of 2018) that were created just for the app too. Furthermore the app will give you full information on the street art via text and audio for all the background information. Lastly you can also hear about the historic information on artwork that has since been repainted or changed.

Street Art Rotterdam Festival POW WOW
For the very first time the POW WOW street art festival is coming to Europe. Originally from Hawaii as an open air gallery, they have since been to Japan, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
This time the festival will be hosted at Keilewerf 1 and 2, west of Rotterdam on the 15th and 16th September. The event will have live street art paintings, live music, up to 20 vans that will be painted and a special exhibition at the HAKA building at the location. The weeks leading up to the festival will announce more artists. I hope to attend and check it out!
What’s even more cool is that this festival is free to attend!
Join A Street Art Rotterdam Tour (like I did!)
You can join a Street Art Rotterdam tour that is organised by Hostel ROOM, a unique theme hostel located in the center of Rotterdam. The tour is in total 90 minutes and it includes walking, exploring and viewing street art from both local and international artists. Some of the local ones I knew already which was awesome to spot. Some of the artists along the walking tour included Bier en Brood, Lastpak and Dan Botlek, but you can be find their artwork throughout the city and not just on this tour.
Our guide Jeremy is a local to Rotterdam, and so we were guided around the back streets with the best knowledgable person for the area. I’ve been living in Rotterdam for nearly 7 years now, and even I didn’t know all the information told or where some of the graffiti could be found, so I was very pleased to have joined.
Others who had joined the event were very friendly and welcoming too. I was a little worried since Traverse was my first conference and that I was pretty new regarding networking as a travel blogger (and rather an introvert!). But pleased to say, the hostel and other attendees of the tour made it very welcoming and a great start to the first event.

We ended the Street Art Rotterdam tour with a drink back at the hostel lobby, which was perfect for the networking and hearing everyones stories at the Traverse 2018 Conference back in May. Half the group had already left unfortunately, but we still got an awesome photo of the Street Art Rotterdam tour group!

4th August 2018 at 11:42 amWow, we never knew Rotterdam had such cool street art. We live near Glasgow, Scotland which is also known for its cool vibrant street art scene. We’ve visited Netherlands twice, but never visited Rotterdam. Now we know where to go next!
