Hiking Angels Landing in Zion National Park, Utah

Hiking in Zion National Park was one of the top places we had high expectations on our US road trip. As Utah’s first National Park, we couldn’t wait to climb the massive sandstone cliffs within the 24 km long canyon. The Springdale Visitor Center is a great start to your hikes to pick up any last minute snacks or water and that special souvenir to take home! Our goal of the day was to hike the hardest and most challenging Angels Landing! Continue reading “Hiking Angels Landing in Zion National Park, Utah”

Scenic State Route 89A Vermillion Cliffs and Navajo Bridge

With our 2 week road trip through America we decided to take Scenic State Route 89A from Cedar City Utah to Page Arizona. By the time we were on this route, our driving experience had improved and we were enjoying the landscape and long winding roads through the nature, stopping at each viewpoint along the way. This post shares our stops at the Vermillion Cliffs and the Navajo Bridge before heading to Horseshoe Bend and ending in Page, Arizona.

Wandering The Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah

Visiting the Bonnville Salt Flats Speedway is a top thing to do with your rental car in Utah. The densely packed salt pans are a unique natural feature stretching over 30,000 acres! Famous for it’s Speed Week to break racing records, we had arrived on the white salt reflecting area on an early morning for a little drive with our rental car. Smooth Car Rental And Driving Experience in the US

Preparing to drive for the first time in America was something we could only brace for by watching some youtube videos and hearing stories from others. We knew that we had to get in control of the wheel and understand the driving differences compared to Europe from the start of our trip, as we would be using the car for 12 days on these roads!

Once we made it to Salt Lake City with the Amtrak from Denver, we headed straight with the taxi from the train at 04:00am to the airport to pick up our rental car. We had reserved in advance an SUV type car for under $600.00 for 12 days from the company Avis. Since we wouldn’t need it and technically didn’t even want to try driving it in San Francisco, which was our end destination, so a few days short of our 15 day road trip was best.
